My Adventure in Southen Oregon

Diamond Lake in 2002
Crater Lake and Wizard Island above, below is another picture of Crater Lake in 2002.

Back in 2002, I went camping with my family down in Southern Oregon. My family and I enjoyed a variety of two national parks that we stayed at. We wanted to go see a fireworks show for the Fourth of July. Diamond Lake National Park was putting on the fireworks show. My family and I came down from Crater Lake National Park to Diamond Lake, so we could watch the fireworks show. I remember sitting at the amphitheater that Diamond Lake had; to watch the fireworks go off. Smokey the Bear was going to be a guest before the fireworks show began. A man came on the stage and said Smokey had to go fight a forest fire, so he couldn’t be there. Soon the fireworks show began and lighted up the sky. The fireworks were being lighted up over Diamond Lake. They were very nice and all sorts of colors. After the show was over we went back to our camp site at Crater Lake to sleep. The next morning we got up and packed our things, so we could camp at Diamond Lake. After we got settled in, we all went for a walk. I had my niece take a picture of me leaning against a log that was just lying on the grass. I had found a golf ball that was lying on the grass, so I picked it up for a souvenir. I took a break for a little while and then began to walk again. This time instead of walking on the grass, I walked along the road around the campground. As I walked along the road I observed tents, people, cars, and vacant camping spots. It was pretty quiet because the Fourth of July crowd had left that morning. The next day I went swimming in Diamond Lake with my family. The water was a little cold, but I got use to it. When I was swimming, I noticed along the shore that there were grass and trees that surrounded Diamond Lake. After I had gone swimming, it soon got dark. My sister built a camp fire and we made S’mores. The next day my family and I saw Crater Lake National Park. We had only camped up there, but didn’t get a chance to see the lake. I remember seeing Crater Lake; it was beautiful and the water was dark blue. It also looked like a huge blue dark circle. The view point had a fence that was made of logs; they were really smooth. Crater Lake had been formed by a volcanic eruption that took place on Mount Mazama Volcano, and it’s the deepest lake in the United States of America. There is an island on Crater Lake, it’s called Wizard Island. On the island there were trees and snow on the ground. After taking some final pictures, my family and I headed back to our campsite. The next morning it was time to pack up and head home from our Southern Oregon trip.
